John Holbrook creator of the Holbrook Device

aka "The M1 Thumbsaver"

                                                       

John was born in Sinton, Texas during the height of the Great Depression. He joined the Navy in 1950 and was trained as an aircraft engine mechanic. He began flying in the Douglas A3D Skywarrior, a twin engine jet nuclear weapons delivery bomber in 1956, and was later trained as an Enlisted Bombardier/Navigator with over 3,000 flight hours in the A3 and over 300 catapult shots and carrier landing. John is a decorated Vietnam Veteran, having participated in both aerial and ground combat. He served his country for 20 years in the U.S. NAVY and retired in 1970 as a Chief Petty Officer.

John is a life long shooter, hunter, gunsmith and inventor and a Life Member of the NRA. He owns a large award winning collection of Navy issued Colt M1911 and M1911A1 .45 caliber pistols of which many have documented histories. He displays his collection at gun shows and other events  throughout the West and Northwest. He is also a retired computer engineer and currently resides in Missoula, MT. John is on the Board of Directors of the Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History located at Fort Missoula, Montana......
